Head Coach Jerry Hood
Coach Jerry Hood has been a member of the Oak Mountain High School family for seven years. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Huffman High School. After graduating, he went on to play football at Alabama State University. He completed  his studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education. Coach Hood began coaching at McAdory High School in 1993. He served as assistant varsity football and assistant freshman basketball coach. Coach Hood then left McAdory to help start the new Clay-Chalkville High School in 1996. There, he served as the linebacker coach, strength coordinator, and 7th-8th grade girls' basketball coach. In 1999, Coach Hood joined the Oak Mountain High School staff in its inaugural season. While at Oak Mountain, he has served as defensive coordinator, strength and conditioning coach, and freshman boys' basketball coach. After five years at Oak Mountain, Coach Hood was named boys' athletic director and head football coach in 2004. Coach Hood has been instrumental in reorganizing the Eagle athletic programs, developing multiple athletic facilities, and implementing  the "Changing Lives" character education program for his athletes. He is married to the former Amanda Calame of Selma. Coach Hood has been an educator for 12 years and currently teaches physical education and strength training at Oak Mountain. He currently resides in the Leeds community.
